The Kamala Tree (Mallotus philippinensis), also known as the Monkey Face Tree, is found in the tropical regions of India. It is considered a medicinal plant used to treat a variety of ailments from bronchitis to abdominal diseases.

An evergreen that grows to the height of approx 10 m, the Kamala Tree produces a fruit that, when ripe, is covered with granules which is the source of the dye extract.

Kamala yields brilliant oranges, yellows, and golds.
